IPL Betting Preview
Royal Challengers Bangalore
The team is full of stars but have yet to win the IPL Title. The RCB have finished as runner-up 3 times in 2009, 2011 and 2016. They will be looking for their maiden title when they take the field in IPL 10 and who would bet against it with the likes of Kohli, de Villiers and Gayle in the batting line up. Their bowling line up had a new addition with Tymal Mills who is a promising fast bowler who consistently clocks 150kmph and has a good slower ball as shown in the T20 series against India. This just might be the season for RCB to take their maiden IPL Title.
Betting Odds: 4/1
The defending champions will go into the tournaments as one of the favourites. Led by David Warner the side has superstar Kane Williamson and the bowling attack will be spearheaded by Ashish Nehra. They rely heavily on their top 3 to score runs but will be ready to defend their title.
Betting Odds: 6/1
Kolkata Knight Riders
The two time champions won the title in 2012 and 2014 and came close last season losing the Eliminator to the eventual 2016 champions. Led by Gambhir the squad looks stronger than previous seasons and interestingly they acquired some world-class fast bowlers (Boult and Coulter-Nile) in the IPL auction. It is suspected that their home pitch at Eden Gardens will be prepared for this seamer attack.
Betting odds: 7/1
The two time champions will be looking for a record 3rd win to make them the most successful team in IPL History. The have a strong squad and have retained some of their key players while picking up a few new faces. The batting line up will be led by run machine Rohit Sharma and they have Pollard as the middle order destructive batsman. Mitchell Johnson has had a fantastic season in the Big Bash League and will be looking to bring that form into this year’s IPL. Real contenders for the Title this year.
Betting Odds: 11/2
The Delhi Daredevils are never short of stars in their side and this year they have acquired the talented Kagiso Rabada, but have lost super star Quinton De Kock to injury. The young team will be led by Zaheer Khan and have a capable squad who will be looking to improve on the previous few seasons performances. They finished in 6th place last season and last made the final stages in 2012. They have never been in a Final. The Delhi Daredevils will be “wildcards” in the Tournament.
Betting Odds: 8/1
The Lions finished top of the table in last year’s IPL and will be hoping to carry that form into this year’s tournament. The Lions have proven match winners in Faulkner and Bravo and destructive batsmen, such as Finch and McCullum. A side that has the potential to go all the way.
Betting Odds: 11/2
Kings XI Punjab
The Kings had a poor season in 2016 and finished bottom of the standing with just 4 wins. The side has consistently performed under par with their best finish as runners up in 2014 losing to the Kolkata Knight Riders in the final. There are positive reports with the appointment of Virender Sehwag as head of cricket operations and new additions to the squad such as Darren Sammy, Guptill and Eoin Morgan. On paper the Kings have a fantastic side, with the fire power with David Miller and Glen Maxwell, the question is whether they can transfer this into quality performances on the field.
Betting Odds: 9/1
Rising Pune Supergiants
Steve Smith has taken over the captaincy from MS Dohni this season. The side has a strong squad and the starting line-up should include stars like Smith, Dohni, Stokes and Tahir. The team will be looking to improve on their maiden IPL season in 2016 where they finished 7th with just 5 wins from 14 matches. The Supergiants might cause a few upsets and if Smith and Tahir bring their current form into the tournament the Supergiant’s will have a real chance of taking the title.
Betting Odds: 6/1
