The prestigious Augusta National Golf Course in Georgia, United States will once again play host to the first golfing major of the year, the Masters. Taking place from 5 to 8 April 2018, there are a number of performance-ready professionals ready to wear the green jacket.
Here are six of the favourites:
6 Players to bet on at The Masters
1. Dustin Johnson
The World No. 1 will, no doubt, be treading exceptionally carefully in his rental home after a disastrous slip and fall on the eve of the 2017 Masters which put an end to his shot at the title. Going into 2018, Johnson has been welcomed as the favourite and it’s quite clear that this American golfer is the one to beat.

2. Jordan Spieth
Spieth, the 2015 Masters champ and a runner-up in 2014 and 2016, is a firm favourite to take the Masters title this year. The three-time major winner broke out with a T-3 at the Houston Open this week, making him one to look out for.

3. Justin Rose
Rose will be coming into the 2018 season with a point to prove after dominating on the tournament’s 67th hole in 2017 only to finish as runner-up again for the third time in a row. Rose finished out 2017 with a particularly exhausting schedule with 10 events – of which he won three and completed in the top 10 in the remainder. Commenting on this year’s Masters, the World No. 5 said he feels ‘fresh’ and his confidence is noteworthy.
Current betting odds: 16/1
4. Phil Mickelson
Having just ended a winless drought by taking the WGC-Mexico Championship, Mickelson is riding this glory into the Masters and could be the man to break Jack Nicklaus’ record of oldest Masters champ in history – set in 1986. The 47-year-old golfer is a five-time major champ and has finished in the top six in four consecutive PGA Tour events.
Current betting odds: 20/1
5. Tiger Woods
It’s been a 10-year majors’ drought for Tiger Woods who many thought had past his glory days, but his performance the past 16 months have placed Woods’ as a front-runner. With the tide now turning, many believe Woods is set to take his fifteenth majors’ title while working his way back to the World No. 1 spot. If ever there was a comeback story, this is it, and Tiger Woods wearing his fifth green jacket is looking ever more likely.

6. Rory McIIroy
The former world number one has a string major victories and only needs the green jacket to complete a career grand slam. In 2011 he blew a four shot lead heading into the final round of Augusta, however he has matured immensely since then and in 2015 he finished in 4th place in the tournament.

Wildcard Pick:
Jason Day
It’s been seven years since the Australian almost took his first Masters with 2013 another close call, but he has yet to don the green jacket. Unfortunately, 2017 was something of a lost season because of injuries and off-the-course issues, but the former World No. 1 does look like he’s back in top form, having taken a win at Torrey Pines earlier in the season.
