It is time for the third Major of the year as the best golfers in the world take on the challenge of the 2025 US Open. The 2025 US Open Purse has yet to be revealed, but in 2024, the purse was  $21.5 million, with the winner, Bryson DeChambeau, pocketing $4.3 million of the fund.

The 2025 Masters will be held from June 12 to 15 at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. This will be the 125th edition of the US Open, featuring 156 players who want to change their lives forever with a win.

Event Information

Oakmont Country Club is a course steeped in history and tradition. It was established 122 years ago in 1903 and is widely considered the oldest, top-level golf course in the United States.

It is also one of the most challenging courses on the circuit, making this week a massive challenge for even the best players. This will be the tenth time that Oakmont Country Club has hosted the US Open, a record, and the first time since 2016 when Dustin Johnson won it at -4 from Jim Furyk, Shane Lowry, and Scott Percy (all -1).

Oakmont Country Club is set at a 7,342-yard, par-70 course.

2025 US Open Odds

2025 US Open odds to win with BetXchange:

It is tough to remember the last time Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy went into a tournament as anything other than the favorite and second favorite. This will not be the case this week, with Bryson DeChambeau (15/2) splitting the first two Major winners of the year.

2025 US Open Leading Contenders

Scheffler (14/5), the current World No. 1, won the PGA Championship and will be a significant threat to claim his fourth Major championship here. A US Open win would leave Scheffler needing only a win at The Open Championship for a career Grand Slam.

McIlroy is an interesting case study. He was in sensational form early in the season, and he finally completed his career slam at The Masters in April.

He has fallen off, finishing a miserable T47 at the PGA Championship and missing the cut at the RBC Canadian Open last week. He is probably not a smart pick given his loss of form and the club controversy surrounding his driver.

DeChambeau will look to defend by using his outrageous driving game to his advantage. He will have a real shot if he can consistently hit fairways and reduce his iron shots over the rest of the field by going long off the tee.

Looking further down the list of possible winners, Collin Morikawa stands out at 30/1, the eighth favorite. I have been burned by Morikawa more than once this year, but the World No. 4 is consistently good at the US Open. He has been top-15 for four straight US Opens and was top-5 in 2021 and 2022. An elite ball striker with a monster iron game, this course suits his skills.

2025 US Open Prediction

The winning score in the nine US Opens previously held at Oakmont has been below five under par. Iron play is everything on this course, so Morikawa gets the nod as the two-time Major champion ends his 19-month winless streak.

Pick: Collin Morikawa at 30/1
