Race Preview
Silverstone will once again play host to the revamped Formula 1 calendar of events, as the 70th Anniversary Grand Prix gets under way. The F1 championship standings currently have a familiar feel, with Lewis Hamilton dominant thus far – winning 3 of the 4 races. Mercedes are once again the team to beat in the Constructors Championship, having won all 4 of the previous races this season. They did encounter some worrying problems last weekend at Silverstone, despite holding on for a 1-2 on the podium but they will be all too aware of the room for improvements. Elsewhere, Ferrari’s 2020 struggles continue, and they will be looking to start picking up meaningful points whilst Max Verstappen continues to look a threat in a Red Bull car that is yet to reach its full potential. With so many potential narratives, it promises to be another enthralling weekend at Silverstone.

Race Winner
With only 8 races to go in the truncated Formula One season, it is very much now or never for some drivers and teams at Silverstone here: –
Six-time F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has been in imperious form once again in 2020 and having survived a puncture to win last week, his confidence should be sky high.
Hamilton’s Mercedes team mate Valtteri Bottas has a win already under his belt this season and he too will be looking to respond after a tough week last time out at the British Grand Prix.
Red Bull have high hopes for Max Verstappen, who continues to push the Mercedes boys all the way and a win here would really establish him as a potential title contender.
Although he may have been deemed a little fortunate to finish on the podium last week at the British Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc is a classy operator and could trouble the field here at Silverstone.
First Driver to Retire
The cut and thrust of the Silverstone circuit has put pay to many drivers historically and this weekend’s 70th Anniversary Grand Prix looks set to be no different:-
Haas have struggled as a team for a couple of seasons now and Romain Grosjean’s tendency to get caught up in needless scuffles, often costs him his place in the race.
Ferrari have endured a really tough time of things lately and with Sebastien Vettel set to leave the team at the end of the season, morale in the camp appears to be rather low.
Top Six Finish
2020 has thrown up its fair share of thrills and spills already this season and there will be plenty of racers fancying their chances of cracking the top 6 at Silverstone this weekend:-
Having crashed out last weekend, Alexander Albon will be keen to prove himself with a top 6 finish at his home track at Silverstone.
Another man competing on home soil is Lando Norris and the Brit has been the emerging driver of the season so far in 2020 – and few would bet against him being in the points again here.
Frenchman Pierre Gasly finished 7th last weekend and seemed to enjoy the track conditions at Silverstone, making him a candidate to go even better this time around.
