The year’s second signature event on the PGA Tour is just around the corner, as play at Pebble Beach, close to Carmel-by-the-Sea in California, will get underway on Thursday. It will be a fascinating show of early season form, with the winning player also picking up $3.6 million of the $20 million purse.
The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is an essential marker with the Masters racing towards the field at Augusta National in April. Playing well here is typically a good guideline towards success in that event, the first Major of the year.
Event Information
The 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is an 88-year-old event with an 80-player field. The first two days of play are on the Pebble Beach Golf Links and at Spyglass Hill, while the weekend sees all play on the Links.
This is a no-cut event. The amateurs join the pros for the first two days before the big hitters battle on Saturday and Sunday. Pebble Beach has some of the smallest greens on the tour, making this a difficult challenge, especially so early in the season.

2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Leading Contenders
Scottie Scheffler is the bookie’s favorite to win his season-opening event in 2025 at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
Scheffler is returning from a freak hand injury he sustained over Christmas this week. The ace golfer badly cut his hand on Christmas Day when using a wine glass to roll out homemade pasta dough for ravioli. It will be interesting to see if Scheffler’s game shows any rust or if the injury bothers him later in the week.
This will also be the first Tour event of the year for second favorite Rory McIlroy. The popular Northern Irishman would love a win here to set up his season as he continues the hunt for his first Major win since 2014.
This is a loaded field with 27 of the top 30 players in the world set to play the Links. The only big names missing are World No. 2 Xander Schauffele, who suffered a rib injury at the beginning of the year, while Tyrrell Hatton (No. 8) and Bryson DeChambeau (No. 12) are ineligible as LIV golfers.
The last three winners are in the field, with Wyndham Clark defending the title he won in 2024. Justin Rose (2023) and Tom Hoge (2022) also aim to win the event again.
2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Prediction
This isn’t an event where power off of the tee is as important as others. Instead, look for players with outstanding short games who can lay up onto the green with their second shot to do well here.
It will become a wedge fest, favoring some golfers over others. The greens will be bumpy but slower than those played this season to date.
Pick: Collin Morikawa – 27/2
Morikawa is due a win with six top-5 finishes since he last won at the 2023 ZOZO Championship. He was runner-up to Hideki Matsuyama at the season opener at The Sentry, leading all golfers in the key Greens in Regulation stat.
Morikawa’s game suits this course, so he is the pick here.
