Sports betting fans had a number of sporting events to place a bet on this weekend, here we highlight some of the best sporting action of the weekend.

Rugby

England under their new couch, Eddie Jones, captured the Six Nations title with one round still to play. This is England’s first Six Nations title since 2011.

England held off a late charge by Wales to win 25-21. France were beaten 29-18 by Scotland and put England in an unassailable lead with one match to play. If England win next week against France they will secure the grand slam, something they last achieved in 2003.

In other results Ireland beat Italy 58-15.

The Lions suffered their first loss of the season as they lost 34-15 against the highlanders. There were no real upsets in Super Rugby this past weekend with results as most people predicted. The Sharks however did upset the Stormers at Newlands with a hard fought 13-18 win. It was a superb tactical kicking display by the Sharks and thanks to a penalty try (although controversial) the Sharks won a hard fought game.

The All Blacks played an excellent tactical final game to edge the Blitzboks 19-14 to win the Vancouver Sevens Final. Despite the loss, South Africa are just one point behind series leaders Fiji.

“New Zealand played a good tactical game and our guys will learn from this experience. It was disappointing to lose, but I am pleased with the way we played over the entire weekend,” said Powell.

Soccer

Arsenal crashed out of the FA Cup with a shock 2-1 loss to Watford. While Spurs closed the gap on title leader Leicester City to just two points with a 2-0 win against Aston Villa. Leicester City takes on Newcastle on Monday evening and can extend their lead with a win.

At the start of the season some bookies offered betting odds of 5000/1 for Leicester City to win the Premiership.

Charl Schwartzel won the Valspar Championship on Sunday to secure his 15th professional title. Schwartzel finished strongly to secure a playoff with Bill Haas. Schwartzel then parred the first playoff hole to claim the victory.

“That was a really good round,” Schwartzel said. “I think everyone’s goal was just to keep bogeys off the card. You were just surviving. It was just really tough.”
