The Rugby Championships 2016 kicks off on the 20th August and will run through to the 8th October. The four teams are the South African Springboks, the New Zealand All Blacks, the Australian Wallabies and the Argentinian Puma’s. We take a look at the teams and their betting odds:

New Zealand
With New Zealand super star, Sonny Bill Williams out of the Rugby Championship due to an Achilles injury, New Zealand certainly face a set-back. However Coach, Steve Hansen, is confident that this is not a major loss and he will replace Williams with Chiefs centre Anton Lienert-Brown. Seta Tamanivalu and Charlie Ngatai were also in contention.
Betting experts don’t feel that the retirement of Richie McCaw will have a huge negative impact on the team’s performance either and New Zealand most certainly seem to be geared for an almighty battle.

The Wallabies 36 man squad includes four uncapped players, namely Waratahs prop Tom Robertson and Rebels forward Lopeti Timani as well as Reece Hodge and Allan Alaalatoa. The squad also includes star player Matt Giteau. Coach Michael Chieka said that the experience that Giteau as well as the other European based players bring to the team is invaluable.

South Africa
The Springboks begin their Rugby Championship journey playing against Argentina at Mbombela Stadium on Saturday 20th August.
With key players such as Duane Vermuelen being ruled out due to injury, and Victor Matfield having retired, experts are concerned that the Sprinkbok team is deprived of heavy weights for the Rugby Championship.
Coach, Allister Coetzee however has included Bryan Habana, Francois Hougaard and Juan de Jongh who were previously always unavailable due to Springbok Sevens commitments and believes that these players will add the experience and guidance needed.

Argentina
Argentina’s opening match will be against South Africa on the 20th August. These two nations have played one another over the years with South Africa mostly dominating Argentina and winning 20 of their 22 encounters and drawing 1. Argentina last beat South Africa on the 8th August 2015 at Durbans Growthpoint, Kings Park.
