When Philippe Coutinho joined Barcelona from Liverpool prior to the start of the 2018-19 season it was expected that the Catalan giants had found their solution to replacing Neymar.

Coutinho had starred for the Red on Merseyside, scoring 41 goals in 152 games and being a huge part of their turnaround that continued under Jurgen Klopp after he left the club.

For whatever reason, however, the transfer of Coutinho to Barcelona just hasn’t worked out. His record fee was reportedly in the region of 142 million Euros and the Barca faithful haven’t taken to the Brazilian at all. His performances have been derided both in the stands and in the Spanish press, with it looking like a second move in as many summers is on the cards.

One of the teams becoming increasingly linked with Coutinho is Manchester United as manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looks to completely revamp his squad after a disastrous end to the season. United are looking to offload big names on big money, with Romelu Lukaku being the latest player to be told he is surplus to requirements.

Coutinho would be a big buy for United and would immediately increase their chances at clinching a coveted top four spot next season. Their odds to win the title are set at 19.00 at BetXchange with Manchester City as the current favourite at 0.70.
