At the start of the week, Brad Barritt was considered a long shot to be passed fit to play in the Premiership Rugby final. The Saracens captain was forced off in the first half of their semi-final win over Gloucester with a hamstring injury that looked, at the time, to be season-ending.

Barritt, though, has proven time after time that he is a fighter when it comes to injuries and he successfully completed a fitness test on his hamstring on Friday to retain his place in the team.

It means that Sarries will be unchanged as they attempt to add a second consecutive domestic title to their European Champions Cup that they won 20-10 earlier this month against Leinster.

This will be a repeat of last year’s final, a game that Sarries won 27-10 without breaking too much of a sweat. It is also the third meeting in four years between the two teams in English rugby’s showpiece game.

Exeter has a woeful record at Twickenham and against Saracens, so it comes as no surprise that with the hard working and forceful running Barritt back in the side the London team are heavy favourites on BetXchange at 0.35 odds. Exeter can be had for 2.53 if you can smell an upset brewing.
