If Divock Origi never plays for Liverpool again he will leave the club as one of Anfield’s most surprising heroes.

The Belgian has never been much more than a squad player for Liverpool, coming on late in games to give their attack a boost or to waste time. He is clearly not going to pass Roberto Firmino in the plans of Jurgen Klopp any time soon.

That is why, with one year remaining on the 24-year-olds contract, la Liga side Real Betis are attempting to lure Origi to Spain. The contract situation makes Liverpool vulnerable to a bid here as they will not be wanting to see Origi leave on a free transfer in a year’s time.

The Spanish club thinks that Origi can be had for a fee in the region of £10 million. Given that Origi was Liverpool’s Champions League hero this season, the Kop faithful would much prefer to see the Belgian stay in England’s North-West.

Betis will need Origi to bag goals on goals for them this season if they are to push for a shock La Liga win. They are currently 539.00 to win the trophy with BetXChange.
