After a week’s hiatus due to the intriguing last 32 round of the Nedbank Cup, the bread and butter business of the DStv Premiership returns to action this week with a number of mouthwatering fixtures on the schedule. With current log-leaders Mamelodi Sundowns not scheduled this week, this is an opportunity for SuperSport United and Swallows, who are placed second and third respectively, to close the gap on the Brazilians at the top of the table. It is also an opportunity for Golden Arrows to register their third successive win and possibly move into the top three bracket and for Orlando Pirates to return to winnings ways.

Bloemfontein Celtic are going through a rough patch at the moment in the league having only managed to win once in their last five matches. Celtic will be disparate to get all the three points on offer from high flying SuperSport United who have won two and drew three of their last five matches. Through their recent five matches, Celtic have won once, drawn twice and lost the other two and this has contributed to the club staying at the bottom half of the table. On the other hand, SuperSport will also be looking for a win that will move them to within two points of Mamelodi Sundowns.

It goes without saying that Orlando Pirates have blown hot and cold in the league this season and coach Josef Zinnbauer is under increasingly under pressure from the hard to please Buccaneers fans. In their last league match, Pirates were stunned by impressive Golden Arrows and they will be looking to bounce back at the expense of Cape Town City. Their mission is not going to be an easy one with key striker Gabadinho Mhango an injury concern and Cape Town City being one of the form teams in the league at the moment with a recent run of two wins and two draws and one loss.

This is an interesting clash because it pits two teams with different styles to the game. Stellenbosch coach Steve Barker sets up his team to run hard at opposition while maintaining tactical discipline while Mandla Ncikazi of Arrows believes in a team that keeps the ball and also tactical discipline. This is a game that can go either way but recent form slightly favours Arrows who recently collected 10 out of 15 points while Stellenbosch have only managed 3 points out of 15 in their last five matches.

Maritzburg United vs Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila

The battle of the strugglers sees second from the bottom Tshakhuma travel to Maritzburg with the club without a coach after they fired Joel Masutha last week. Dylan Kerr is the favourite to take over the reigns at the troubled Tshakhuma who have lost their last five matches and have only managed one win after their 14 matches so far this season. Coach Ernst Middendorp and his Maritzburg side have problems of his own as they have lost their last three league matches and they will be disparate for a win that will see them reach double figures in terms of points.
