The clash between Liverpool and Arsenal will be the perfect intro before the New Year’s madness in the English Premiership. These two sides both chase the title, which increases the stakes and tensions aside from the existing rivalry. Plus, the festive atmosphere is another reason why every fan in the world can’t wait for the kickoff.

For the moment, the Gunners are topping the standings one point ahead of their upcoming rivals. Liverpool is always fierce at home, and the Reds expect three points here. However, Arsenal is also after a victory, and Mikel Arteta’s crew doesn’t care about the rival’s intentions.

Here is the BetXchange preview for this contest.

Both Teams are In Good Form

Liverpool had not lost in the Premiership since late September when Tottenham triumphed in London after a very controversial officiating. Ever since, the Reds have played excellent football, displaying fantastic offensive potential and solid defense when they have to.

In eight contests at Anfield, Jurgen Klopp’s machinery recorded seven victories and only one draw, which took place last weekend against Manchester United,0-0. It’s been a while since Liverpool couldn’t score a goal in front of its own fans, and that happened against the Red Devils, but be sure that the morale in the locker room is still at the highest possible level.

Still, they bounced back pretty quickly, humiliating West Ham in the English Football League Cup, 5-1. That was the ninth time in the past ten home games that Liverpool scored at least two goals.

Arsenal is in solid form as well, triumphing in seven of the previous nine meetings across all competitions. The sole lost game was against Aston Villa in Birmingham two weeks ago, 1-0. Given the way the Villains play, this isn’t anything disappointing.

The Gunners are playing good football this season, and the results are the best proof. They are first in the Premiership and are in the knockout stage of the UEFA Champions League, proving this unit has quality and also a deep roster, which was the case in previous years.

Arsenal’s defense is the best away from home in the Premiership, with only 7 conceded goals in eight outings. It’s no wonder Arteta’s crew collected 16 points on the road.

Head to Head Games

We’ve seen 239 meetings between Liverpool and Arsenal, and the team from Anfield Road has a better record, winning 94 of them. Arsenal has 82 triumphs, while 63 encounters finished without winners.

Arsenal was better during the previous season, defeating Liverpool 3-2 at the Emirates and, after that, getting back from Anfield with one point after a 2-2 draw.

However, that tie cost the Gunners a lot because it came at the worst possible moment with the title on the line. Arsenal was leading two goals to none, but Liverpool managed to pull back and hurt the rival’s plans.

Predictions

Arsenal’s defense is strong on the road. Arteta’s tactics is to keep the ball in their feet and slow down the game’s tempo. However, Liverpool knows how to handle situations like this, and even though we saw them failing to score against Manchester United, we believe that the Reds’ offense will find a way to Arsenal’s net.

We don’t wish to underestimate the guests, but Liverpool’s record at home and their performance at Anfield force us to bet on their victory. For those who have doubts about this pick, high efficiency is the perfect alternative. We remember the matches from the previous campaign, and there’s no reason to see a different approach this weekend.
