Euro 2020 Semi Final: Italy vs Spain
Only 4 teams remain in the business end of Euro 2020 and all 4 sides are only 2 games away from clinching European glory. England and Denmark face off in Wednesday’s second semi-final but first up are Italy and Spain – two sides that have tasted success in the competition previously. Italy have looked the part throughout the competition and Roberto Mancini’s men look to be firing on all cylinders. Spain meanwhile have endured a few wobbly moments, but Luis Enrique’s side are in the final 4 and will feel that anything can happen from here.
With a place in the final up for grabs, it promises to be a fascinating battle between two of Europe’s top sides at Wembley.

Few sides have displayed the fluency and attacking prowess that Italy have so far at Euro 2020 and their excellent display against Belgium last time out underlined their credentials as one of the favourites to lift the Euro 2020 title next Sunday. Roberto Mancini will have been pleased to see his side dig deep to win that one, with the likes of Ciro Immobile and Lorenzo Insigne impressing in attacking areas too. They know they will have to be at their best to beat a Spain side that is fluent in possession, but they look to have a game plan for all the sides they come up against.
Spain
It has been a topsy turvy campaign for Spain, who failed to impress in their opening two games – drawing with both Sweden and Poland to heap the pressure on Luis Enrique. Team selection and formation was brought into question, but a 5-0 thumping of Slovakia was followed up with a remarkable 5-3 (AET) win over Croatia and they look to have plenty of momentum within the camp. Despite scoring early against Switzerland in the last 8, they were largely wasteful and only scraped through on penalties – underlining the perceived inconsistency within the squad. They are a side capable of beating anybody on their day though and may relish being the underdogs against Italy here at Wembley.

Neither side have been able to stop scoring of late and although there is plenty on the line, a very open game is in prospect here.

Lorenzo Insigne bagged one of the most iconic goals of the tournament against Belgium in the last round and the Napoli forward loves the big occasions.

This could be a much closer game than many anticipate, with Spain more than capable of beating Italy if they play anywhere near their best. The Azzuri however look to have the bit between their teeth at Euro 2020 and with big game players in form, they could well book their place in the Euro 2020 final at Wembley on Sunday.
