Tournament Preview
The third major of the 2019 golfing calendar gets underway at Pebble Beach as the 119th edition of the US Open promises to provide all of the usual thrills and spills over 4 days in the Californian sunshine. With defending US Open champion Brooks Koepka arriving at Pebble Beach fresh off the back of his PGA Championship victory last month and with Tiger Woods eying up Jack Nicklaus’s record of major titles – there are plenty of narratives that are sure to unfold.
Pebble Beach is playing host to its 6th US Open with Graeme McDowell clinching victory the last time the event was played on the links and it is a notoriously difficult course for players to navigate – meaning scores could be low throughout the week.

Outright Winner
Picking a winner from the vast field assembled at Pebble Beach could be somewhat of a lottery but here are our top 5 selections with BetXChange:-
Koepka is bidding to become only the second player in the history of the game to win three consecutive US Open Championships and he tends to deliver his best golf on the biggest stage.
The Northern Irishman hasn’t won a major championship for nearly 5 years but his quality was underlined by his dominant display at the Canadian Open last time out and he is very much the man in form.
2019 Masters Champion Tiger Woods set the golfing world alight with his win at Augusta back in April and he will be looking to add to his tally of major wins once more at Pebble Beach.
Few players on the PGA Tour have displayed the consistency of Patrick Cantlay and with his win at the Memorial Tournament last month fresh in the memory; he should be full of confidence here.
One of Europe’s Ryder Cup heroes from last season, Fleetwood has endured a couple of near misses in major championships recently and he will be eager to break his duck on the big stage here.

1st Round Leader
Major Championship golf never fails to provide drama and this year’s US Open promises to be no different. Here are three punts at 1st round leader after Thursday’s action:-
Three-time major winner Spieth has struggled for form of late on the PGA Tour but he has many of the qualities required to put in some good rounds at Pebble Beach and he could lead the pack early on.
The 2012 US Open champion has been in fine form of late, epitomised by his second placed showing at the Canadian Open last week and he could well start well again here in California.
Following his top 5 finish at the Masters back in April, Finau has produced just one top 5 finish but he is a man for the big occasion and the course at Pebble Beach should be an ideal fit for him.

Top Six Finish
Going deep in a major is deemed as the ultimate test for any golfer and there are plenty of players that have had experience at going the distance in this year’s US Open field:-
2013 US Open champion Justin Rose has struggled at times this season but finished 13th in his last showing at the Memorial and he could feature heavily on the leader board this week.
Australian Adam Scott has finished in the top five at all of the 4 major championships and following his second at the Memorial and 8th at the USPGA in May, he is arriving in good form this week.
Englishman Paul Casey is yet to get over the line in a major championship but he has finished in the top 10 in all four of the tournaments on the calendar and he rarely misses the cut at the big events.
