Liverpool have struck first in a bid to bring a player that most expect to be highly sought after this summer to Anfield.

Bruno Fernandes of Sporting Lisbon had a sensational 2018-19 campaign that saw him score 29 goals and pick up 17 assists for the Portuguese club. This output means that the 24-year-old midfielder has been strongly linked with a move away from Lisbon, with a who’s who of major European clubs chasing his signature.

Portuguese Tabloid, Correio da Manha has reported that Liverpool have handed in a £40 million bid for Fernandes, the first step in taking him to Merseyside. This will obviously grab the attention of the other clubs said to be interested in Fernandes, with names like Manchester United, Manchester City, Spurs, and Inter Milan all expected to be in the hunt.

The signing of Fernandes would only add depth to what is already a fearsome Liverpool side at the top end of the pitch. The Reds are currently the 2.30 second favourites to win the Premier League with BetXChange.
