One of the legendary tracks in F1 is Silverstone, the home of the British F1 Grand Prix. This will be the 80th edition of this famous race, which has seen quite a few historic moments.
Ahead of Sunday’s contest, the home fans have a lot of reasons to be thrilled. Three of the previous four race winners were from Great Britain, and so far, British racers and teams from this country have dominated the championship.
Lando Norris and George Russell are in the title mix, particularly the former, while McLaren rolls over its competition in the constructors’ championship.

British F1 Grand Prix Preview
McLaren kept its high pace, having a 1-2 win in Austria last weekend. Lando Norris was first and Oscar Piastri second, while Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc reached third place on the podium.

Piastri had the fastest lap here, proving that his vehicle is gaining pace as the season goes by. Though Norris has the five fastest laps, Piastri took two in the last three races.
Max Verstappen was out in his home, finishing the race earlier, meaning he comes fueled up in England to get back in the saddle and keep his title chances alive. Lewis Hamilton has been consistent lately, finishing the last five races between 4th and 6th positions, although he has yet to reach the podium. It’s a pity that Leclerc has a better vehicle than one of the greatest ever. We are confident that Lewis would handle the stronger Prancing Horse more effectively than Leclerc.
The one guy who is an enigma and who might explode to win in George Russel, who was first in Canada and then 5th in Austria. He oscillates a lot, but the Mercedes showed adaptability and a glimpse of its power.
Now, let’s discuss the circuit itself and the tactics a bit further. For years, Silverstone has been a one-stop race, and that’s probably going to be the case now. The track is wide, and there are numerous opportunities to overtake rivals. Saturday and the qualifiers could see rain, which could complicate the situation on track and mix up the starting grid, but Sunday should be cloudy yet dry.
The rain on Saturday could disrupt the tyre strategy and force an additional pit stop on Sunday, but we will see how that unfolds.
Race Impact on the Standings
Whatever happens, Piastri and Norris won’t be significantly affected, but if Max fails to reach the podium, this could greatly impact his title prospects.
The constructors’ title race is more or less decided, with McLaren having twice as many points as their closest rivals. The race for the second spot in the standings is interesting because Ferrari has 210 points, one more than Mercedes. Red Bull has 162.

When it comes to the constructors’ history, Ferrari has 18 triumphs, while McLaren has won 14 times. Mercedes has 10.
British F1 Grand Prix 2025
The Brits will enjoy this one, that’s for sure. This country produced numerous historic moto racing figures, and as such, they have a huge fan base in their country.
Additionally, two guys are in the mix for the win here, though, Norris has better chances. A lot will depend here on the weather during Saturday’s qualifiers. Piastri now has the fastest vehicle, and if he takes the pole, the track’s configuration will give him a significant edge, likely leading to another win.
Now, knowing that this is Lewis Hamilton’s track and that his Ferrari shows consistency, we would go with him reaching the podium. This is, in our opinion, the best pick for those who would want to bet on this race.
