Well, that didn’t take long.
Less than two days after winning the Europa League with Chelsea, coach Maurizio Sarri has agreed to terms on a deal to manage Serie A Champions Juventus.
Sarri, who has asked to be let out of his Chelsea deal, had his agent meet with Chelsea management on Friday to discuss a way to allow him to leave for new pastures in Turin.
Taking over at Juventus will not be easy. Sarri will be following in the footsteps of Massimiliano Allegri who has coached the Old Lady to five straight league titles. Juve are said to be offering Sarri seven million Euros to make the move back to Southern Europe.
This would spell the end of an odd reign for Sarri. Blues fans simply never took to the Italian as their manager, even though he returned them to the Champions League by finishing third in the Premier League. He also led Chelsea to a pair of cup finals, winning convincingly against Arsenal in Baku on Wednesday. His tactics and team selection were never thought highly of though and an exit seemed on the cards from Christmas onwards.
Chelsea, who are said to be looking at Frank Lampard as their next manager, are currently fifth favourites for the 2019-20 Premier League crown at 20.00 with BetXchange.
