Even though Napoli won the Serie A title, the Italian championship is extremely interesting due to the battles for the UEFA Champions League place and the relegation race. We hadn’t seen a situation like this for the past few years, and believe us when we say that Serie A rocks right now.

There are a few derbies in the 32nd round, most notable between AS Roma and AC Miland and at Giuseppe Meazza, where Inter hosts Lazio. All these teams are direct rivals for one of the remaining three top-four places. We won’t make previews about specific games but go with an overall analysis considering different categories.

Top Four Places

Napoli is safe, that is certain. Now, between Lazio in the second and Atalanta in the seventh position, the gap is only nine points. La Dea is two points behind AC Milan, who is fourth and meets AS Roma this weekend. The decision to give back Juventus 15 points made a mess, but it’s excellent for the fans and the publicity.

Lazio looks solid right now, and Atalanta might bounce back after a nasty period. Both teams from Milan have UEFA Champions League semis ahead of themselves, which could create problems for either unit. Now, Juventus is in the worst form, with three losses in a row, plus they play the UEFA Europa League semis. However, the Olds Lady is now boosted with those 15 returned points.

Roma not only has obligations in the semifinals of the Conference League but is massacred with injuries, the most recent two Dybala and Wijnaldum, and Mourinho spoke about that and the complications that will come out of it.

In our opinion, Lazio is the closest one to keep the position, regardless of the schedule. Roma has the toughest schedule, and they are out, the same as Inter.

That’s why AC Milan and Juventus have the best prospects to earn the UEFA Champions League tickets.

Relegation Battle

Sampdoria and Cremonese are already out, and we realized that long ago. Verona with 26 points, Spezia 27, and Lecce 28, are the top contenders to join the previously two mentioned teams.

Spezia and Lecce have a better schedule. Spezia also has M’Bala Nzola, an Angolese forward who is one of the best in the league and creates the difference on the pitch, even while playing for one of the worst teams in the league.

Lecce struggles and is in the worst form of all but in some of the games, they didn’t have any luck at all. They will host Verona at home in a direct battle for staying in the league on May 7.

Verona’s schedule is the worst, and they also go to Lecce to meet their direct rivals. We think Hellas has the least chance of staying in the elite tier of the Italian championship. Surprises are always possible, but currently, they are our pick to join Sampa and Cremonese.

Top Goalscorer

Victor Osimhen from Napoli leads the way with 21 goals, six more than the first follower, Lautaro Martinez from Inter, who has 15 hits. Atalanta’s Ademola Lookman and Nzola from Spezia have 13, so it’s pretty clear that the Nigerian from the new champions is in an excellent position to win the Goolden Boot.

Napoli won’t have any pressure in the upcoming games, and even if Lautaro comes close to Osimhen, we are more than sure Spalletti will do everything in his power to push his striker to the first place, even if Napoli’s results suffer because of it.
