Tour de France, arguably the most popular cycling race in the world, has reached its 10th stage. This is the middle of the race, and there are already some visible patterns that could decide certain things.

Overall, there haven’t been too many surprises. All the names we expected to see in battles for shirts are there, of course, with some additions, but in general, there haven’t been any sensations.

As for the race, after having more or less sprinting stages, things are changing now. Stage 10 will be from Ennezat to Le Mont Dore Puy de Sancy, which is at more than 1,850 meters altitude. After this one, the caravan moves down south, where they enter the Pyrenees and where the real show starts.

This will change the whole dynamics of the race because, as stated, so far it has been high-speed and sprinter-oriented stages. For instance, stage 9 was the second fastest in the history of the Tour, with the average speed being set at 50.01 km/h. However, all that will change upon entering the harsh and demanding Pyrenees.

From now on, each stage will be hell, with weather conditions varying as well as the altitude, where only the strongest “survive.”

Here are the best cycling odds on the internet.

Favorites

We’ve already said that there are tendencies regarding the development of the race, meaning that we already have some sort of a picture regarding the final standings and the competition for all the shirts.

General Classification – Yellow Shirt

For the moment, Tadej Pogacar is the favorite to defend his crown and add a fourth Tour victory to his collection. And for the moment, he looks as if he is the only one capable of maintaining this tempo, which is why the odds are so low on his triumph.

The only one who might endanger the Slovenian is Jonas Vingegaard, but he will need to go beyond his limits while the Tour is in the Pyrenees, which is the only way to defeat Pogacar, who is very dominant when it comes to mountain stages.

Mountain Classification – Polka Dots

Pogacar is the biggest favorite here as well, though not as strong as in the competition for the yellow shirt. His main adversary will be Vingergaard again. Mountain stages will decide the winner of the general classification, as we’ve already stated. If the Dane manages to beat Pogacar here, he just might have a shot at the yellow shirt.

By the way, Pogacar won the polka dot shirt twice, and Vingegaard once. Other names in the mix here are Lenny Martinez and Michael Storer, but to be honest, they don’t have such great chances.

Points Classification – Green Shirt

For the moment, Jonathan Milan wears the green jersey, and it seems it will stay like that until the end. Lidl-Trek star and the two-time winner of the green shirt at Giro is magnificent at the Tour right now, and leads in the points classification far ahead of all the other rivals. Milan snatched the 8th stage as well, winning and pretty much cementing his lead in this category.

Young Rider Classification – White Shirt

To be honest, we’ve expected to see Remco Evenepoel leading the way here. The Belgian firmly holds the situation under control. Following his win in stage 5, he took over the white shirt and ever since, held it firmly in his possession.

Team Classifications

We don’t want to waste your time here and write too much, because everything is pretty clear so far. Team Visma-Lease a Bike leads the classification, and it will stay like that until the end. Simply, they are overrunning any other team and are dominating this year’s competition.
