2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club’s Lower Course in Springfield, New Jersey takes place from the 28th to the 31st July this year. This has been done so that the players have enough time to rest before the 2016 Olympic Games.

We take a look at a few predictions of who has a shot at winning the US PGA title and what the course has in store for the players this year.

The traditional course at Baltusrol requires precise ball-striking and a more careful strategy than most modern Golf Courses today. 4 time winner of the PGA Championship, Tiger Woods says “It’s an old school course where everything is in front of you. It’s a fair test and I can see why great ball-strikers have done well there.”

Justin Rose has been earmarked as a possible winner due to his supreme ball striking skills and being a consistent player which is ideal for this course.

Another possibility is Hideki Matsuyama. The winner of the PGA this year needs to be mentally tough, as well as someone who can navigate the two week turnaround from The Open Championship this year. Experts say that Hideki meets these requirements, although he is a complete dark horse. He may be the most underrated player on the PGA Tour right now because he has only won only once, but Hideki’s iron game is among the best in the world.

Henrik Stenson is another hot contender purely as he is currently the strongest player, having just won the 145th Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Jason Day stumbled to T8 at the US Open in Oakmont to the shock of many fans. However he is certainly one of the strongest players currently and many experts say that Baltrusol fits his game well. Can he pick up the pieces?

2 time Masters Tournament winner, Bubba Watson, is also a favourite to win this year. He also has the distance to win, much like Dustin Johnsons and experts say this could put him in the lead.
