2. The Swimming Sensation

Katie Ledecky
From team USA, Katie Ledecky has already secured 3 Gold medals and one silver at the Rio Olympics. These were for the Women’s 200m Freestyle, Women’s 400m Freestyle and the Women’s 4x200m Freestyle relay. Ledecky most certainly saved the day in the 4x200m freestyle race as the Americans trailed behind Australia for most of the race. She seemed to sail through an easy overtaking of Tamsin Cook to secure the gold medal for her team.

This Ethiopian middle and long distance runner is a class of her own. She won gold at the Beijing World Championships in 2015 for the 1500m and has won a further 3 god medals at the World Indoor Championships.
Saturday 13th August will see Round 1 Heat 1, 2 and 3 completed. The semi-finals take place on Monday the 15th August and the Women’s 1500m Final is on Wednesday 17th August. So keep your eyes on this lady as she tries to break her own world record of 3.50.07.
