The PGA Tour takes a break from its traditional format this week as the best golfers on tour head to Avondale, Louisiana, for the Zurich Classic. This is a team stroke play event, with the pairings taking on the course in fourball for rounds one and two, and alternate shot for rounds three and four.
The 2025 Zurich Classic has a purse of $9.2 million, with the winning team splitting around $2.5 million of the fund.
The 2025 RBC Heritage will be held from April 24 to 27 at TPC Louisiana in Avondale. This will be the 76th edition of the event, which changed to its pairs format in 2017.
Event Information
TPC Louisiana opened in 2004. The course was designed by famed golf course architect Pete Dye, with assistance from tour professionals Steve Elkington and Kelly Gibson.
TPC Louisiana became the home of the Zurich Classic in 2005. The event had previously been played on a series of courses in and around New Orleans since its inception in 1938. The only year since 2005 that the event was played at a different course was 2006, when damage from Hurricane Katrina made the course unplayable.
TPC Louisiana is set as a 7,425-yard, par-72 course.

Zurich Classic 2025 Leading Contenders
Billy Horschel is the only player to have won this event in both individual and team formats. He is a man to watch here.
Andrew Novak and Ben Griffin will be an interesting pair to watch. Novak has been in the final group three times this season and barely missed his first win at Harbor Town last weekend. Griffin missed a Masters invite by the slimmest of margins and has a serious point to prove.
I am still on the Collin Morikawa train. He might not be able to buy a win despite living in the top 10, but he is still a great golfer in good form. His pairing with Kurt Kitayama only requires Kitayama to prop up the two-time Major winner in the right spots to be successful.
Rory McIlroy is back with this being his first tournament since his epic Masters win. He is paired with Shane Lowry in a duo that feels like it should be in with a shot on Sunday. This pair of Irishmen won last year and is the only paid in the field with two players in the top 15 of the Official World Golf Ranking.
Zurich Classic 2025 Open Prediction
This is the type of event where betting small to win big is the right play if you’re not looking to bet on individual team matchups.
One pair that the fans will want to see do well is the duo of Joel Dahmen and Harry Higgs. They are extreme dark horses to win the event, but after their shirt-removing antics at the Waste Management Phoenix Open a couple of years back, with instant applause and cheers, they will have the crowd behind them.
My pick is slickly less out there. Aaron Rai and Sahith Theegala are both in solid form and will be in the mix come the back nine on Sunday. If they put a good final round together, then they will be hard to beat down the stretch.
Pick: Rai/Theegala
