The final test of the series between England and India gets underway this week, as India will be looking to close out the series with another comfortable victory over the visitors.
India vs England Test Recap
Things in India got off to the best possible start for the tourists, as England claimed a 227-run victory in the opening test. However, the good feeling that centred around that big win have certainly been decimated over the two most recent tests. The most pleasing factor for England in that opening test was how well they batted, as they scored a huge 578 runs in the first innings, before getting the 178 they needed to claim the victory in the second innings. Joe Root scored an impressive 218 in those first innings, while 82 were added by Ben Stokes and 87 were scored by Dom Sibley.
Batting has certainly let England down in the two test matches that have followed, as they have failed to deal with the crease on both occasions. England were set a score of 482 to win the second test, but could only reach 164 in their second innings. While England faltered with the bat in that second test, India reached a new gear. Rohit Sharma scored 161 in the first innings, before adding 26 in the second innings. Ravichandran Ashwin scored 106 in the second innings to carry India to a comfortable 317-run victory.
The most recent test was one that will be remembered for how short it was, as the day-night test was over within two days. Indian ended up winning by ten wickets, as England scored just 112 in their first innings, before adding 81 in their second.
Heading into the second innings, India needed just 49 to seal the win, something that they were able to achieve without losing a wicket. India’s spinners were the stars with the ball in that most recent test match, as Axar Patel took six wickets in the first innings, before claiming five in the second. Ashwin also caused misery for the visitors, as he took three wickets in the first innings and four in the second at the Sardar Patel Stadium.
India vs England Fourth Test Preview
India will be looking to close out the series with the win that they need to get the test success. England will be hoping to salvage some pride after being heavily beaten in the previous two test matches. However, there will be no more room for excuses, after the tourists bemoaned the state of the pitch in the previous test.
BetXChange make India the clear favourites to get the win that they need to seal the victory. However, they will be without Jasprit Bumrah, who will be missing after dropping out of the team for personal reasons. Meanwhile, England have decided to leave out Chris Woakes, while Moeen Ali and Jofra Archer will also be absent for the visitors.
India vs England Fourth Test Prediction
The tour hasn’t gone exactly to plan since England’s opening test win, and we fully expect India to see out the contest with a final victory to claim a 3-1 series victory.
