England’s visit of India is finally coming to a close, and the tourists are in desperate need of a bright spark to renew their hopes of winning the latest series. India will once again head into the ODI as the 0.60 BetXChange favourites.
India vs England 2nd ODI Preview
England’s visit to India has been pretty underwhelming to say the least. India have had the tourists on strings throughout the tour to this point, and have already claimed Test and T20 success. The tour started so brightly for England with victory in the first test, before India went on to win the following three test matches. The T20 series followed a similar pattern, with England claiming the first win by eight wickets, before India fought back to win by seven wickets in the second series match.
England regained the lead, before India really started to turn the screw in the final two series matches. India eventually claimed the win in the fifth and final T20, as they won by 36 runs. David Malan was the highest run scorer in that last T20 defeat, as he scored 68, while Jos Buttler finished with 52 from 34 balls. India’s batters wasted little time in setting a big score as Virat Kohli scored 80, while Rohit Sharma and Hardik Pandya scored 64 and 39 respectively.
The ODI series got underway earlier in the week with an excellent game between the two countries, but unfortunately for England it was the same old story again, as they were outclassed by the hosts. India were able to claim the win by 66 runs, and means that England now face the challenge of having to win the second match, otherwise, the third ODI will see England playing for nothing more than pride.
India vs England 1st ODI Recap
England once again won the toss at the beginning of the 1st ODI, but once again it counted for very little. The visitors opted to bowl first, and despite Ben Stokes taking three wickets, and Mark Wood taking two, they were unable to keep India to a score lower than 317. Shikhar Dhawan finished as the leading batsman in the win, as he scored an incredible 98 from 106 runs. Meanwhile, KL Rahul scored 62, while Krunal Pandya had 58. England were able to manage Rohit Sharma fairly well, as they restricted the star to just 28.
The score set by India was a huge one, but England were able to get within sight thanks to 94 scored by Jonny Bairstow. Jason Roy also put in a decent effort after scoring 46, but England’s next highest scorer was Moeen Ali, who scored 30. Ben Stokes was dismissed for one, while Jos Buttler could only manage double that score. There will be pressure on the batters to deliver when the pressure is on in the second match on Friday.
India vs England 2nd ODI Prediction
India’s batters and bowlers have both been in scintillating form throughout the series to this point, and it would be hard to bet against them pulling ahead to a 2-0 advantage. England are certainly missing Jofra Archer and Joe Root, and their absences will be felt by the English again on Friday.
