The Canadian Grand Prix will take place at the Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve on Sunday. A total of 70 laps will be completed by the drivers involved, with each lap covering a distance of 4.361km. A total race distance of 305.27km will be covered in Montreal. In total, there are 14 corners that drivers will need to safely navigate, with two DRS Detection Zones available to aid overtaking.

The Canadian Grand Prix has been a regular stop on the calendar throughout history, as it was first competing in F1 back in 1967. Since its introduction, the race has been staged at a variety of tracks throughout its history. However, it has been staged at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve intermittently since 1978.
The race returned to the F1 calendar after missing races in 2020 and 2021, with Max Verstappen claiming victory 12 months ago. Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher are tied for the most race wins, with Ferrari leading the constructors’ standings in terms of all-time race wins.
Canadian Grand Prix Preview
It has been a dominant start to the new season for Red Bull, as the constructor has won each of the opening seven races of the season. In fact, they have only started off pole position on one occasion so far this term. Max Verstappen looks a clear favourite in the BetXchange betting to land a fourth straight victory this season in Canada, as he bids to extend his championship lead over Sergio Perez.
Verstappen dominated in Spain at the start of June, as he claimed victory by over 24 seconds from Lewis Hamilton. However, the Mercedes pair celebrated a first double podium of the season, which would bring hope for this weekend, as the upgrades have certainly brought Mercedes into contention. The fact that George Russell was able to hold off Perez to claim third in Barcelona could also highlight that they will be once again competitive this weekend.
It was a slightly better weekend for Ferrari in Barcelona, as Carlos Sainz finished fifth, while teammate Charles Leclerc recovered to claim eleventh. But, Ferrari’s race this weekend could be against an improving Alpine and a very quick Aston Martin. The latter currently sits third in the overall standings, and the battle for second in the Constructors’ Championship could be one of the most eye-catching throughout the season.
Canadian Grand Prix Prediction
It appears hard to ignore the dominant start to the season that Red Bull have achieved this term, and that makes Verstappen the standout selection to win the race this weekend. However, we expect to see more improvement from the Mercedes this weekend, and that could see Hamilton securing a closer second-place finish in Montreal. There could also be a home-country success story for Lance Stroll.
