Both Chelsea and Liverpool lost their respective games in the Champions League this mid-week. They will be looking to bounce back with a win this Sunday, but that isn’t going to be easy. The home team also wants to get even for losing the UEFA Super Cup in Istanbul one month ago. On the other side, Liverpool would like to keep its perfect record in the EPL and stay on top with a nice advantage over Manchester City. All in all, we are ahead of a really interesting match.

Match Preview

Chelsea lost against Valencia this Tuesday. It was a 0-1 defeat, but what is more significant, the events which took place during the match could hurt the Blues even more. Being down 0-1, Ross Barkley refused to allow Jorginho or Willian to take the penalty kick which he missed. Neither of the latter two remained quiet, and both had a lot to say to the English player. So, the chemistry in the locker room could be a bit disturbed. Chelsea plays efficient matches this season. Out of the last 10 games Blues played in all competitions five saw over 4.5 goals, which is fantastic. Only two events during that period haven’t ended with both sides netting. Now comes the interesting fact – Chelsa hasn’t won at home this season. Apart from their loss against Valencia, both Sheffield Utd and Leicester took one point from Stamford. Rudiger, Emerson, and Mount are questionable for this event.

It appears that Liverpool isn’t keen on playing against Napoli in recent times. This is their second loss in the last two months, against Ancelotti’s crew. It is the first loss after six consecutive wins, in which they scored at least two goals. All those games saw more than 2.5 scores and both sides to score, but that is something we got used to seeing from Klopp’s unit. Alisson Becker, the excellent goalkeeper, won’t be in the lineup, same as Naby Keita, but these two are already out for some time, and it won’t be too big of a deal for the guests.

Head to Head

The two teams played 183 times, and the Reds have a better record. L’Pool posted 79 wins, while Chelsea has 63. Other 41 events ended without winners. The latest one in UEFA Super Cup ended with a draw after 90 minutes and extra times, but Liverpool took the trophy after the penalties. These teams met three times during the previous season. At first, Chelsea eliminated the big rival from the English Football League Cup at Anfield, 1-2. Three days later they played 1-1 in the Premiership in London, while Liverpool reached a 2-0 win in the reversed leg.

Prediction

If one thing is certain here, that would be high efficiency. These two teams play open and attacking-minded football, with lots of goals as you could see from our preview. Plus, they are well aware that in order to win three points here, making any calculations won’t help. The strategy for that is simple; you need to crush the opponent as soon as possible, by hitting him hard in the back line. Therefore over 2.5 goals is our safest pick, and the odds at BetXChange are at 0.62. For you who want a bit riskier bets, here we have one other recommendation – over 1.5 goals in the first 45 minutes. If you’ve analyzed recent respective matches of these teams, this is something which happened often, and we will back it up again. Odds are at 1.24.
