Gilles Villeneuve circuit will host this year’s Canadian F1 Grand Prix. With McLaren’s domination peaking, many questions: can anyone stand up to Piastri and Norris? Red Bull is trying, with the current champion, Max Verstappen, defying the duo. Mercedes is still growing, and they can’t compete with McLaren. Meanwhile, Ferrari appears to be struggling, with their leading driver, Charles Leclerc, showing some improvement but still falling short of the expected level.

So, from that side, right now, there isn’t a team apart from Red Bull that can beat McLaren. Canadian Grand Prix knows to deliver surprises. We’ve seen that throughout history, and we can’t wait for Sunday to begin the race.

The entire city of Montreal is hyped due to this race. We didn’t tell you that it takes place at Notre Dame Island in the town, with the track being 4.361 kilometers or 2.71 miles.

With the NHL and NBA, Formula 1 is among the most popular sports in Canada, and that’s why this race is so popular.

Top 5 Moments from Canadian Grand Prix History

  • Did you know that Jean Alesi’s sole win in their career was here in Montreal back in 1995? Ferrari’s legend, who spent his entire career with the Prancing Horse, won here, posting his biggest success.
  • Canadian Grand Prix has the popular “Wall of Champions.” It is a wall that comes in one very quick and long curve, where pretty much all the champions had some sort of trouble. Many of them simply hit the wall to end the race. In 1999, the “Wall” was officially recognized because, during that Grand Prix, four drivers crashed there, three of them being the F1 champions.
  • In 2007 this was the race in which Lewis Hamilton won. Nothing spectacular and special many would say. Yet that’s not the case because the young Brit at the time posted his first victory. It was his sixth career race, and he managed to reach the top spot on the podium.
  • In 1978, the guy whose name is on this circuit, Gilles Villeneuve, debuted for Ferrari in Montreal. And not just that, he won the race. This was his initial F1 victory,

Canadian F1 Grand Prix History

This will be the 60th F1 race here. Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton hold the record with 7 wins, while of the active drivers, Max Verstappen has 3, all consecutive from 2022 to 2024.

When it comes to constructors, Ferrari tops the list with 14 wins, one more than McLaren, while Williams has 7.

Predictions

What can we tell you about this race? For a start, McLaren’s domination won’t be stopped. They are firing on all cylinders and look constant, which is their leading edge over other rivals. Red Bull shows a glimpse of its potential, but that is mostly due to Max’s individual quality.

Ferrari improves, but we really don’t believe in Leclerc, we’ve stated that so many times this year. Hamilton’s vehicle is noticeably weak, and we don’t understand why one of the best divers of all time accepted such a role in the Prancing Horse.

Mercedes could reach the podium. Russell is interesting this year, and he is always near the top. Yet, for the moment, our pick here would be McLaren to take one, which is a bit courageous. For those who want to play it safer, go with McLaren’s driver wins the race.
