The battle for the AFCON continues, and this week will be the decisive one for terms and their aspirations. There are two more rounds in each group and six points in circulation meaning that we’ll know all the participants once this international break ends.
Our focus in this text will be on South Africa and Sudan. These two teams are in challenging situations and need wins and success to reach the continental championship.
Apart from the AFCON betting tips and previews, you can find here odds and other interesting information. That’s why you should stay tuned to see what’s going on and pick up a few advice and suggestions along the way.
South Africa’s Road to AFCON
Bafana Bafana is in a similar situation. They are second in the group, having four points more than the third-placed Congo and two fewer than Uganda. The next rival is Uganda, and some think that both teams won’t push to win but will settle for a draw because it suits them both. However, knowing the mentality of both teams and especially Hugo Broos, this isn’t a very realistic scenario. Even though it has logic.
South Africa then hosts the sorry South Sudan in the final game of the qualifiers. The players from the youngest African state are dead last in the assembly with four losses in the same number of games, scoring three and conceding seven goals.
Regarding the match in Uganda, we expect to see high number of goals. Both teams want to score goals, and they have all the tools for that. Three of the previous five events Uganda had were either with over 2.5 goals or both teams netting. As for South Africa, they haven’t lost in the recent 12 games, and three of the past four have seen four or more hits.
That’s why we pick both teams netting for this encounter. The odds are fabulous and if you want to explore more options for betting on this event, follow this link.
Sudan’s Road to AFCON
Falcons of Jediane open their quest with a road match in Niger, who is last in Group F with only one point in four games, and a 1-5 goal difference. Sure, this isn’t going to be a piece of cake for the guests, but they need a win in order to secure a spot in the final tournament.
Sudan has five points more than Ghana, which meets Angola, but to be safe, James Kwesi Appiah’s boys have to take three points and simply avoid all the calculations. Their final qualifier is against Angola, which has already secured its place in Morocco. Many think that Angola won’t send its best players to this event, but as stated earlier, there can’t be any calculations.
A win in Niger is realistic, despite a very hard and rigid rival who plays decadent football, emphasizing the defense. All of their four AFCON qualifiers games have been with under 2.5 goals, and that tells a lot about them and their style of play.
To be honest we expect this one to end with the same efficiency. A low one. Niger will defend relentlessly, trying to score from a set pieces or counter-attacks, as they don’t have any other idea on how to compete with the rivals.
