For the moment, these two teams have the same record, two wins and a tie, and are in the zone which leads to the Round of 16.

The main logic with City is to press the rivals and take possession of the ball. Something similar is used by Borussia, which is less offensive than before, as it relies on counterattacks on the road, yet still generates an enormous number of scoring chances.
Dortmund shoots from all over the field, and that’s why they score many of their goals. City tends to complicate things a bit and get as close to the goal as possible, though, right now, with Haaland in high form, their misses almost always go unpunished.

Guardiola’s team lost to Tottenham at home in the opening game of the year, but after that, triumphed in the following 4. And they didn’t just defeat their rivals; they were confident and efficient, netting at least two goals and recording three clean sheets in those five meetings.
By the way, Haaland has 13 goals in the Premiership and 4 in the Champions League, meaning he currently scores more than a goal per game. That’s why we mentioned that he currently carries the Citizens.
Dortmund
The Millionaires have just a single loss in 14 matches this year. That failure came in the Bundesliga against Bayern on the road, 2-1, and after that, Borussia recovered quickly, winning four straight matches. In three UCL events, they would play 4-4 against Juventus in Turin, then beat Bilbao at home, 4-1, and Copenhagen on the road, 2-4.
Dortmund’s road record this year is solid. After 9 matches across all competitions, they have 6 wins, two ties, and a defeat, and 5 of those meetings were with three or more goals.

Head coach Kovac is a bit of a defensive-minded guy, but with all of Borussia’s offensive talent, he isn’t focusing on protecting his goal, but rather pressing the rivals, and only upon getting the lead, orienting towards counterattacks.

Since 2022, these teams have met four times, twice in the UCL group stages. City has three wins, while one event ended with a tie. Three games, all of which City won, ended with the same result: 2-1, while the latest saw no goals scored.

Borussia is a good team, but they won’t be able to beat City at the Etihad. Simply not. With Haaland in such a form and the fact that City’s current form is at a high level and improving, we are going to bet on the hosts. And not just to win but to beat Borussia by at least a two-goal margin.
