Big Fight Preview

There is a huge European feel throughout the whole of the event this weekend, but this is certainly the one that catches the eye as British fighter Darren Till takes on Robert Whittaker. Both fighters have shown glimpses of their very best in the UFC over the last couple of years, but something will have to give on this night.

Till certainly has the most impressive record, as his list of achievements is extensive. He has only been beaten on two occasions, with those defeats coming against Jorge Masvidal and Tyron Woodley in 2019 and 2018 respectively. Those defeats ended a run of 17 victories in 18 fights. The only blotch on his record during that time was a stunning draw against Nicolas Dalby. Wins against Jessin Ayari, Bojan Velickoic, Donald Cerrone and Stephen Thompson followed that draw. He won three of those four fights via decision.

However, following his defeat to Masvidal, Till returned to the Middleweight division. On his return to this weight class, he won a split decision fight against Kelvin Gastelum. However, this will be a stern examination of where he stands in the division.

Whittaker had been the man to beat in the Middleweight division as he had held the UFC Middleweight Championship up until October last year. He surrendered that title after a stunning performance from Israel Adesanya. Whittaker had held that title for two years after being crowned undisputed champion following his unanimous decision victory against Yoel Romero.

He highlighted that he was the best in the division at the time as he accepted a non-title rematch against Romero where he once again won by decision. Whittaker’s defeat against Adesanya brought an end to his nine-fight winning run, and he will be looking to get back into the title picture with a success against the talented Till this weekend.

Whittaker vs Till Pick

This fight could go in any direction, but it will be crucial for Till to avoid being taken to the mat by the wrestling specialist. The BetXChange odds struggle to separate the two fighters, and it is hugely likely that the winner of this will get a future title opportunity. It will be a thrilling encounter, but the preference would be for Till to continue his winning return to the Middleweight division.

Pick: Darren Till at 0.94 with BetXChange.
