The most prestigious tennis tournament in the world kicks off this Monday.

As you all know, Wimbledon is the pinnacle of this sport, and there isn’t a player who isn’t dreaming of lifting the silverware at the All-England Club in London. This year’s competition will be very, very interesting because we don’t have clear favorites in either part of the draw.

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner lead the way among the gentlemen, with the all-time great Novak Djokovic trailing the two young lions. However, don’t think for a second that Novak isn’t as sharp as before because we’ve seen some of his greatest performances on grass surfaces right here in Wimbledon.

Meanwhile, the ladies have several contenders. For many fans, their competition will be much more interesting. Sabalenka is No.1, but we know that Wimbledon often brings surprises, which is why we can’t wait for it to start.

Men’s preview

Carlos Alcaraz comes to London as the reigning French Open champion. He was better than Sinner in a fantastic final, which saw the Spaniard coming back after a set deficit and crushing Sinner. This is something that many saw as justice following Sinner’s ridiculous doping ban.

According to the odds, Carlitos is a slight favorite here precisely because he beat Sinner in the finals in Paris.

Right after the two comes Novak Djokovic, who is in a sort of limbo because he isn’t that close to the duo above, and yet he’s far ahead of all the other players. You have to realize that Djokovic has won the title seven times here, and even though he is approaching the fifth decade of his life, the Serbian is still a force to be reckoned with.

Many believe that Alexander Zverev finally has a shot at a title in London, but his inconsistency is what makes him vulnerable. We have to mention Jack Draper, who’s playing fantastic tennis this season. Without a doubt, Draper will have massive support from the stands, which could be what pushes him towards that final step.

Another player made a significant leap in the contenders’ rankings, and that’s Alexander Bublik, who defeated Sinner a couple of days ago in the Halle finals. He could use the momentum to become a dark horse here, along with Taylor Fritz and Daniil Medvedev. These two are always in the mix on the grass surface, yet we didn’t see them do anything notable.

Ladies’ Preview

Arena Sabalenka is the top favorite to win the ladies’ part of the Wimbledon competition. The Belarus player suffered a tough loss in the Roland Garros finals, where she was visibly upset and frustrated following her defeat to Coco Gauff.

Her performance here can go in two ways: one is to see Sabalenka fueled and even more motivated to win here on a surface that suits her more. The other is to see her losing control under pressure and failing to deliver

Apart from her, there aren’t any standout favorites among the ladies. The former champion Elena Rybakina is second, Iga Swiatek is third, and Coco Gauff, who won Roland Garros, is fourth. After them come one by one, Marketa Vondrousova, Madison Keys, Mirra Andreeva, and Jessica Pegula.

Wimbledon 2024 Results and History

  • Last year, the champions were Carlos Alcaraz, who defeated Novak Djokovic 3-0 in the finals, and Barbora Krejcikova, who was better than Jasmine Paolini 2-1.
  • The most decorated player in men’s competition is Roger Federer, with 8 titles, one more than Novak Djokovic.
  • The most decorated player in the ladies’ competition is Martina Navratilova, with 9 titles.

2025 Wimbledon Summarize

No need to write about the importance of this tournament. This is more than just a tournament, more than just a major. Winning Wimbledon makes the player immortal forever, regardless of his career achievements or failures.

We expect to see Carlos and Janik going all the way, with the note that Sinner has Novak in his side of the draw, while Alcaraz’s side is far easier.

The lady’s part of the competition highlights Sabalenka, though we believe that Elena Rybakina saved her best tennis for this tournament and that we just might see the 2022 champion on the podium again.
