The Womens Tennis Association Finals or WTA Championship is an annual Tennis tournament held at the end of the tennis year. Due to its rigid qualifying criteria, the players tennis journey of the year is termed as their “Road to Singapore” as for the second year running, this is where the WTA Finals will be held. 2015 will be the 45th edition of the singles tournament and the 40th edition of the doubles tournament and betting fans are watching their favourites closely.
Betting at the WTA Finals
Before deciding on betting favourites for the tournament however, it’s important to understand how the players qualify to play at the WTA. For the singles tournament points are calculated by combining points from sixteen different tournaments. These points must come from four Grand Slam events such as Wimbledon, US Open and Australian Open, four premier mandatory tournaments and the best results from two Premier 5 tournaments. For the doubles tournament, points are combined from any eleven tournaments throughout the year. A players points and performance throughout the year and at various tournaments is important to keep track of to determine an effective betting strategy.
What is also important for betting odds is how the tournament is played. The singles event features eight players split into two groups of four. Each player plays the other three ladies in her group over the first four days of the tournament. The top two in one group play the top two in the other group and vice versa. The winners of these play each other in the final. How the players played one another in previous tournaments should be noted as well as any injuries and the physical condition of the players.

In 2015 the first four qualified players are currently Simona Halep, Gabrine Muguruza, Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova and Serena Williams qualified but declined to play. The next four are in line to qualify but first have to play at either Hong Kong or Linz tournaments this month; Agnieszka Radwańska, Angelique Kerber, Lucie Šafářová and Flavia Pennetta. Punters are placing their bets early for the tournament which will be held from the 26th October to 1st November 2015.
