The first silverware of the season is up for grabs in England this weekend, as the final of the Carabao Cup takes place at Wembley. Last season’s Champions League winners, Chelsea will take on Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool, with the winning side able to end Manchester City’s stranglehold on the competition in recent seasons.

Chelsea VS Liverpool Odds

It should be a close match-up between two of the teams located in the Premier League’s top three. Liverpool are currently the favourites with BetXchange, as they are priced up at 12/10. Chelsea is currently a 24/10 chance, while the draw is available at 22/10. Over 2.5 goals in the game is available at 23/20, while under the same total is a 13/20 chance.

Chelsea’s Route To The Final

Thomas Tuchel will be looking to win a third major trophy in two years with the Blues, and will be looking to add to the victories that Chelsea have already achieved in the Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup in the 2021-22 season. The Blues needed to ride their luck in the opening rounds of the competition, as they needed penalty shootouts to see off both Aston Villa and Southampton.

Chelsea have certainly had a harder ride to the final, as they have come up against Premier League opposition in every round. The Blues saw off Brentford in the quarterfinals, before easing to a 3-0 aggregate win over Tottenham Hotspur in the semi-finals. Kai Havertz and a Ben Davies own goal gave them a 2-0 lead after the first leg at Stamford Bridge, before Antonio Rudiger scored the only goal of the game in the semi-final.

Liverpool’s Route To The Final

After a season without a trophy last season, the Reds will be looking to get their hands on a first piece of silverware this weekend. Liverpool are still in the hunt for all four major trophies available to them this season. The EFL Cup could also be Jurgen Klopp’s first domestic honour in English football. Liverpool saw off Norwich in the third round with a comfortable 3-0 win, before beating Preston 2-0 in the following round.

They needed to show every ounce of their character at the quarterfinal stage, as they came back from 3-1 down against Leicester City, before winning on penalties. Takumi Minamino scored in the 95th minute to send the game to spot-kicks. The semi-final showdown against Arsenal was a cagey affair. The giants drew 0-0 in the first leg, before the Reds were sent to the final after a brace from Diogo Jota at the Emirates.

Head-To-Head Record

The overall record between the sides in recent years show how closely they match up. Both sides have picked up 14 wins apiece in the previous 41 meetings. Chelsea are unbeaten in three against Liverpool, with their only win coming at Anfield in March 2021. Chelsea also hold the record in this competition, having won three of the previous four meetings.

Chelsea VS Liverpool Prediction

It should be a thrilling final at Wembley this weekend, and one that could go either way. Thomas Tuchel has an excellent record in finals, and that experience could make the Blues the value pick in the Carabao Cup final this weekend.

Pick: Chelsea @ 24/10 with BetXchange.
