Tournament Preview

The PGA Tour rolls onto Mexico as some of the biggest names in the game look to find form and climb the world rankings before the season is out. With attention already starting to turn towards the 2020 Ryder Cup, the field will be keen to stake an early claim for both the European and American teams. Matt Kuchar is the defending champion at the Mayakoba whilst the likes of Fred Funk and Graham McDowell have clinched the win in Mexico previously, since its introduction to the tour in 2007. With $7.2 million to play for, it promises to be a fascinating week at Playa Del Carmen.

Viktor Hovland: 20.00

Exciting youngster Viktor Hovland is yet to pick up a win on the PGA Tour but all the signs are that the first victory is on the horizon. He has secured his tour card for 2020 and could play with a real sense of freedom here.

Tony Finau: 20.00

Fresh from making the cut as part of Tiger Woods’s President’s Cup team, Tony Finau arrives here in good form and could be the value outside pick this week.

Billy Horschel: 20.00

Billy Horschel is a figure of consistency on the PGA Tour and he looks to have a game well suited to the course here this week. One to watch.

Joaquin Niemann: 25.00

Here are our picks to get off to a flyer this week:

Abraham Ancer: 25.00

Home favourite Abraham Ancer has enjoyed a superb season on the PGA Tour and he currently resides in the top 40 on the money list. With home support backing him, he could get off to a flyer here.

Keegan Bradley: 33.00

Keegan Bradley continues to perform week in week out on the PGA Tour and he arrives in Mexico off the back of a top 25 finish in Shanghai. He could go well this week.

Kevin Kisner: 33.00

Kevin Kisner sits inside the top 35 on the PGA Tour after yet another solid season. He finished 9th at the Tour Championship last month and could be a good fit for the course here in Mexico.

Here are our picks to finish in the top 10 come Sunday:

Matt Kuchar: 1.40

Defending champion Matt Kuchar hasn’t enjoyed his best year on the tour but he is a great ball striker and he will enjoy being back at the Mexican course this week.

Charles Howell III: 3.50

Charles Howell III is ranked just outside the top 50 on the PGA Tour and finished in the top 10 at the Zozo Championship last month and should not be discounted here.
