The English Premier League kicks off this weekend with a game between Brentford and Arsenal on Friday night. There have been a lot of changes throughout the summer, and even though the transfer window isn’t closed yet, we’ve decided to make a short preview of the 2021/22 season. Check out BetXchange’s offer for the upcoming campaign.

Contenders

Of course, Manchester City is the no.1 favorite for winning the title because the Citizens kept all the key players and added a few new ones. Among them is Jack Grealish, who came from Aston Villa for the new English record. As we speak, City is trying to land Harry Kane, and if they succeed, we are more than positive that Pep Guardiola’s side will have by far the best team in the league. BetXchange offers 4.00 on City’s title

Out No.2 candidate for the title is Chelsea, primarily because of Thomas Tiuchel, the one man who managed to outsmart Guardiola in direct clashes. The German head coach created arguably the best defense in Europe last year, while also bringing a winning mentality in Chelsea’s locker room. Romelu Lukaku’s transfer is finalizing, and with the already present core, we believe that the Blues have the best prospects to surprise City.

Liverpool is a big enigma. We aren’t sure whether all of their players finally recovered from various injuries picked up during the previous season. We particularly mean Virgil Van Dijk. If he is 100% ready, Liverpool is at least a 30% stronger team, and automatically a title contender.

Manchester United landed some players, Jadon Sancho the most significant one. Still, we really don’t believe that they have the consistency to keep up with the good results throughout the entire year. With all due respect, Ole Gunnar Solskajer simply isn’t as good a coach as Guardiola, Tuchel, or Klopp.

Relegation Battle

Brentford is the first pick for the majority of the experts when it comes to relegation. The Bees simply don’t have enough players to compete with the EPL teams, and their roster is not that deep, according to the pundits.

Watford is next in the line, and Norwich follows the Hornets. All these teams earned the promotion to the EPL last year, and it’s no wonder why we see them in the current position. The Jo-jo effect is nothing new in the top tier of English football, and we saw that in numerous situations in the past.

Newcastle looks like a team that could end suffer relegation this year. The atmosphere around the club is negative, with the fans waging war against the president, Mike Ashley. All that could create additional pressure on the players and make certain complications, resulting in poor results.

Young Players to Keep an Eye On

Phil Foden is arguably the best youngster in the EPL, but he is already a superstar, and we won’t take him into consideration.

Our pick here is Bukayo Saka. This is the defining year for Arsenal’s wunderkind. Either he becomes an elite player and an indispensable part of the Gunners’ lineup, or yet another talent that didn’t reach his potential.

So, all eyes on Saka.

Top Goalscorer

If Harry Kane goes to Man City, he will be our top pick for this year’s top goalscorer. The Citizens prefer to play offensive football, and Kane will have much more help than in Tottenham. With Gundogan, Foden, Silva, and of course, Kevin De Buyne behind him, the captain of the English national team will have plenty of useful assists.

Also, Romelu Lukaku is the player who can win the Golden Boot. He had two masterful years in Italy, establishing himself as the top striker on the continent.
